Angel King

Genealogy & America250 Speaking

Family history is more than charts, binders, and dates. It’s the stories, context, and connections that bring the past to life. As America turns 250, these stories matter more than ever. Our national story is built on ordinary families who did extraordinary things — and their legacy still shapes us today.
Angel draws on her own heritage, including Revolutionary War ancestors and heritage travel, along with leadership experience, to make genealogy speak to today’s issues.
Making Family History Dimensional: Bringing Your Roots to Life
In this presentation, I share insights from years of heritage trips with my mother and children to places like St. Clair County, Illinois, southern Indiana, central Pennsylvania, western Kansas, and Colorado. We visited cemeteries, ancestral homes, and small towns — discovering how those experiences transform flat records into living stories.
Closer to home, I highlight King Family Day in Logan County, hosted by my now 101-year-old mother-in-law, as an example of how simple, multi-generational gatherings connect families in powerful ways.
I also explore how photos, heirlooms, and papers often get passed down without context — and how we can reconnect them with meaning through storytelling.
